Vera Mackney
If laughter is the best medicine comedienne Vera Mackney is administrating healthy doses wherever she goes.
Sizzling satire from the suburbs…
Vera’s unique spin on everyday observations will make your face ache with laughter. The girls will definately ‘get it’….while guys may squirm a little at the few home truths told with a humourous twist that will leave them thinking “How did she know that?”
Vera is taking the comedy circuit by storm, putting a funny spin on her own family life by using her quirky Aquarian outlook on life.
Shortly after strutting the comedy boards in Brisbane….Vera branched out interstate…taking part in The Melbourne International Comedy Festival 2008….The Melbourne Fringe Festival 2008…and The St Kilda Laughs Festival 2009.
In 2008…Vera the blonde pocket rocket participated in Canberra’s Greenfaces sharing the stage with Australia’s own funnylady Fiona O’Loughlin….which saw Vera walk away being named Qld’s State Finalist.
2009 saw Vera recognised with the inaugural Chris Daniel Encouragement Award for New comedy Talent.
Vera’s self-depreciating wit is delightfully hilarious that will leave you buzzing with a feel good experience. She is contagious and easy to get hooked on. If you have a partner….a few wrinkles…or any preconceived ideas about blondes that are easy on the eye….Vera is a must see!
“Vera Mackney has a touch of Bogan to her with tales of drugs, blue collar work and a long suffering husband. She is chatty, slightly rambling manner to her delivery and a cynical view of the world that she milks for all it’s humour…” THE GROGGY SQUIRREL

Best gig ever: Canberra Greenfaces 2008…a comedy competition run by A List Entertainment…I was having such a good time on stage that I started doing new material and forgot to do my ‘gold’. I was so annoyed with myself…driving ALL that way to do new stuff. I ended up winning and the MC Fiona O’Loughlin whispered in my ear on stage “Do your gold”…It was an amazing night…..and still to this day I have no idea what the new stuff was that I did.
Worst gig ever: UGH!!…doing a support for Chopper Read…when the crowd of guys found out I wasn’t taking my gear off…they just turned their backs and kept talking amongst themselves…a good learning experience…and I grew a nice set of testicles in the process.
