Stuart Fisher

In 1998, Stuart Fisher stamped his mark on the comedy scene by advancing to the semi’s and then final of the Triple J RAW Comedy Competition, with his first ever performance. Since then he’s shown a presence, versatility and “likeable arrogance” rarely seen in any performer.

After 18 months on comedy stages, the big man took on the challenge of singing jazz by joining a Brisbane-based Nu-Swing band which ultimately became the very popular Midnight Syndicate. In no time at all, Stuart and his performance style had performed comedy and jazz all around the country and even in New Zealand and Singapore.

In 1999, working with Borderline Deformation Productions, Stuart took a comedy show (The Roadies Revenge) to the Melbourne International Comedy Festival, where he worked along side such Australian Comic icons as Chris Franklin and Bob Franklin. He then became the only Brisbane-based comedian, at that time, to take a show to MICF 3 times with ‘Are We There Yet?’ in 2000, and his highly acclaimed solo show ‘Censored’ in 2001.

In comedy circles, Stuart has worked in most clubs around the country and supported such comedic icons as, Akmal Saleh, Bruno Lucia, Denise Scott, Rove, Steady Eddie, Fred Lang, Scared Weird Little Guys, Chris Franklin, Eddie Ift (USA), Gordan Southern(UK), Matt King (Aus), Austen Tayshus, Adam Hills, Mikey D, Fiona O’Laughlin, and Kitty Flanigan.

Working with Midnight Syndicate and as a solo jazz singer, Stuart has shared stages with artists like Ingrid James, Doug Parkinson, Idea of North, Etype and James Morrison for such clients as, Pfizer, Holiday Inn, Price-Waterhouse-Coopers, Rio-Tinto, Curves Gym, Qld Cancer Council, Queensland Brain Institute and many others…

Stuart is also an established presenter / actor with performances on Radio, Stage, Television and Film. Most recently he can be seen on the big screen in the Australia feature Spudmonkey which was released in Australia in October 2008. He has also been cast as a Biker for the action/thriller BLOOD MONEY due out in cinemas in 2009.

Club started in:                I forget the name but it was part of the Dockside Complex in Brisbane..

Best gig ever:                I was booked to do some supports in New Zealand and to cut a longer story, slightly shorter – the Headline guy had to pull out and they threw me on as a headliner (my first one) – so I had to do 40 mins in front of a bunch of Kiwi’s. I did and they were were great – or was it  they did and I was great?

Worst gig ever:                I did a gig with another well known comic as MC (We drove in together in my car). He happened to annoy one loud table more then they would have liked, and that threw me for my spot… I may as well of been staring at the wall for 15 mins. But what was worst is that when we were leaving the table of loud heckler types took some much offence to the way the MC treated him that he sent his goon’s after us when we left… and as we were driving out they ambushed my car – and kicked the passenger window in – shower glass over both me and the MC – we went to report it to the cops but they wouldn’t take our statements because they thought we were drunk. Yet they let us drive home. Weird!

First Car:                VW Beetle – 1964 – bought it as an almost completed show car – but over the years with a little bit here and there – I slowly Trashed the shit out of it… Sold it undrivable for $100

Fave film:                I can’t remember the title… or who was in it – but the plot was … Um..  - Oh… and Matrix was good to

Fave holiday:                Time off? Whats that?
